This can either be a positive factor that helps you achieve your goals and win at life or it can be a negative force that hinders your growth.
It starts with awareness and acceptance of a simple truth, your environment can either support your progress OR keep you stuck.
Your environment, which includes your friends, colleagues, location, habits, and lifestyle, impacts you far more than you realize. You can’t make a significant, lasting change in your life without altering some elements of your environment.
When you are trying to grow into the person you need to be to achieve your vision, it is helpful to your growth to surround yourself with people who demonstrate those qualities you aspire to achieve. These people might include mentors/coaches who can teach you new skills, colleagues who cheer you on or friends who hold you accountable to your goals. Having in your close circle encouraging people who lift you up and support your dreams will intensely improve your chances for success.
Also, consider what are the top five places you spend most of your time. Pay attention to how you feel in these spots and take note of any changes in your feelings or emotions when you leave them. Do you feel energized or drained? Motivated or down? Anxious or relaxed? If its feelings after you leave are negative, and you want to become a better you, you need to make some urgent changes.
Now let’s look at your habits and lifestyle: are you intentionally placing yourself in situations and locations that spark growth? Or have you fallen into a stagnant comfort zone of the familiar but uninspiring?
Real growth happens when you finally appreciate who and what best supports what we want, and then align yourself with those people and places that do. If you want to upgrade your life, you have to upgrade your surroundings. As a result, your mindset will start to elevate, your motivation levels will increase and procrastination is no longer on the table. That’s when real success is possible.
